2012 Green Bay Packers Offseason Needs

Nicks Giants Jersey, The Green Bay Packers were exceptional in the regular season, going 15-1 and seemingly primed to repeat as Nicks Giants Jersey Super Bowl champions. However, they were stunned by the New York Giants in just the Divisional round, losing 37-20 and ending their magical regular season in utter disappointment. The Packers\' excellent offensive play in the regular season overshadowed their poor defensive play, but by giving up 37 points to the Giants, they showed they need to get better on that side of the ball. Here are some of the Packers\' big additions and subtractions so far in this young offseason, plus a breakdown of their biggest needs heading into the draft.

Additions:

C Jeff Saturday

DT Daniel Muir

DE/DT Tony Hargrove

Subtractions:

C Scott Wells

QB Matt Flynn

CB Patrick Lee

Top 5 Needs:

1. Outside Linebacker

The Packers didn\'t have anyone aside from Clay Matthews who could consistently put pressure on the quarterback. As a result, Matthews was often double- and even triple-teamed as opposing teams knew the Packers had no else they had to worry about. Most of the elite pass rushers will likely be off the board once it\'s Green Bay\'s time to pick at No. 28, but the Packers have to take a chance on whoever is left on the board. USC\'s Nick Perry or Nicks Giants Jersey Marshall\'s Vinny Curry could be valid options the Packers should consider. This is such a big need that they will likely use multiple picks in the draft to try and find some help at this spot.

2. Safety

Safety Nick Collins suffered a career-threatening injury that could force him to eventually retire. With that said, it is essential that the Packers find someone who can start opposite Morgan Burnett in the defensive backfield. This year\'s draft class is extremely weak at this position, so the Packers might be forced to take a gamble with some of their later picks or they can try to find a free agent who can fill in for the short term.

3. Defensive End

Cullen Jenkins was an extremely valuable asset to the team on the defensive side of the ball when they had him a couple of seasons back. So when they lost him to free agency last year, the Packers\' defense suffered because of it. What they need to do now is look to add a defensive end who can play the same role. Defensive linemen who can collapse the pocket are huge assets, as they make it that much easier for the linebackers to get to the quarterback.

4. Cornerback

Tramon Williams has emerged as the starting cornerback opposite Charles Woodson, but now it\'s time to find a replacement for the 35-year-old Woodson, who has had nagging injuries in the past few seasons. Sam Shields and Jarrett Bush are solid contributors when called on, but the Packers lost Patrick Lee to the Oakland Raiders in free agency.

5. Running Back

Ryan Grant seems to be an afterthought in the Packers\' offseason plans and James Starks really can\'t be relied upon on passing situations. This really isn\'t a huge need given that the Packers don\'t run the ball too often, but if they have a shot at Darren Sproles, then they should grab him Nicks Giants Jersey because he will be a perfect complement in the backfield.
